How to care for your Windy Hill (rough sawn pine) furniture
Included among our best selling products are Windy Hill farm tables and associated cupboards, hutches and occasionals. Many of these pieces have natural rough-sawn surfaces with planed and painted bases or components. This week’s tips will focus on the care of natural surfaces, with a follow up next week focusing on painted surfaces.
Because of the intended distressed appearance, caring for these furniture items can be relatively simple.
Table Tops and other natural top surfaces
If your table is used only occasionally:
- Dust as desired
- An occasional wiping with a damp cloth is a useful practice
- Spills or food particles can be cleaned-off the table using a damp cloth and mild detergent (dishcloth)
If your table gets heavy use:
- You may notice a dulling of the patina and/or scratches or wear in heavily used sections of the table. An annual fresh coat of Briwax can fill and hide the scratches and restore the warm glow of your tabletop.
